WEEK 2 - Site Selection & Farm Clearing

Greetings earthlings, for this week I will be telling you guys about what I have learn about Site Selection.

Firstly, I will tell you guys about nursery. What is nursery? Maybe some of you will think about the nursery where the children goes. No it's not that kind of nursery. Nursery in this means the place where plants are propagate into a use able size. The function of nursery is to sold out and to transplant the plant to the field. It is also to provide the material of the highest possible quality.

For site selection there are a few things to look at before we start to plant the crops.
For a good site selection, the criteria for the topography must be flat this will help the maintenance for the planting to be a lot more easier.

Next for site selection, we should pick the site where there is a near water supply to the planting area and a good drainage is really important in site selection to avoid waterlog. Other than that, the site must have accessibility to the road. This will make the work and the transport of products easier for the workers.

Lastly, we have learned about Site Preparation. Site preparation is when we do a land clearing.  Land clearing is the process of  removing trees, stumps, stones and other obstacles from an area as required to increase the size of the crop producing landbase to of an existing farm or to provide land for a new farm operation.

Here are pictures of my classmates doing the land clearing.
As you can see here, we used a hoe to cut the grass. It is a lot of work but with teamwork, the job is done faster.

After we had cut the grasses, we put it in a pile so that we could throw it at the given place.

In this picture, the students is doing lining with the help of our Planters Executives. The students used a measuring tape to measure the plot and a pole to pinpoint the measurement.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post and some new knowledge.Next week, I'll be posting more interesting stuff about farming.
